“I was pleased to learn that the other ladies and I at the Kidney Centre who cannot afford the exam will be tested. Aside from having to take this treatment three times a week, having to think about doing a mammogram was an added bur- den. I am very grateful to everyone to MAP for helping me to get my mammogram.”
Miriam Knowles
“To be honest, I don't have a mammogram regularly. I just recently found a lump. So, I am grateful for this initiative”

September 1, 2019 Hurricane Dorian made landfall in Abaco with 185 mph sustained winds. Since that catastrophic event there has been no mammography services on the island.
Women with disabilities are just as likely to get breast cancer as other women. Yet they tend to get screened for breast cancer less often than women without disabilities. Every woman needs to have regular breast cancer screening tests. The main barrier to breast cancer screening is lack of access.
Gender is the leading cause of breast cancer. As women get older their breast cancer risk increase. May is recognized Senior Citizens Month. During the month of May will pay special attention to the seniors in our community to ensure they understand their risk and are giving access to screening.
MAP launched in 2021 in the middle of a two-year suspension of mammography service due to hurricane Dorian and the Covid-19 pandemic. The first group of patients to reach out to our organization were cancer survivors because they under- stood the importance of regular screening. In recognition of Cancer Survivor Month MAP will focus its screening toward the cancer survivors in our community.
Your donation to Mammogram Access Program will go to a patient that needs any of our services but cannot afford to.
